Richard Simman, MD, FACS, FACCWS

Dr. Richard Simman is a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, and Diplomat of the American Board of Wound Medicine and Surgery and is the founding President and Chair of the American Board of Wound Medicine and Surgery.

Dr. Simman is also a Research Associate Professor and Associate Clinical Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, and serves as the Co-Director of the Wound Program at Jobst Vascular Institute / ProMedica Health System in Toledo, Ohio.

His background includes training in General Surgery at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, Columbia University in New York, NY and a Plastic Surgery residency at Providence Hospital and Medical Centers in Southfield, MI under the supervision of Dr. Ian T. Jackson, a world famous plastic surgeon. In addition, he completed a Burn Fellowship followed by a Research Fellowship at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

As an active clinician and researcher, his work has been published in over 120 manuscripts, abstracts, letters, book chapters and major journals including, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Annals of Plastic Surgery, Aesthetics of Plastic Surgery, The Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, Wounds, Academic Emergency Medicine, and others.

He is an active member of numerous medical associations. Dr. Simman is currently the editor in chief of the Journal of American College of Clinical Wound Specialists. In addition, Dr. Simman is a past president of the American College of Clinical Wound Specialists (ACCWS).
